We left our home in 2015 to embark on a trip from Oregon, USA to the tip of South America. In an expedition vehicle which we built ourselves. Connecting as a family, and Waldorf homeschooling as we go.
Why? Because it was time for a drastic change in the way we were living, moving away from being trapped by our business and consumerism to one of connection and freedom. Re-connecting to ourselves, to each other and to earth herself. We have yet to arrive in South America, however we are enjoying the journey on the way, and creating ripples of impact as we go.
We are a family who puts connection with each other and nature above anything else. When we are not traveling in our expedition vehicle, we are living our freedom based lifestyle on our oxygen farm in the Southern coast of Costa Rica, as we are creating our next ripple.

Through Waldorf homeschooling, traveling and the projects we are working on are we are showcasing to them how to create their lives and live it on their terms, giving back and how to create their ripples.
Children are the future generation and how they are parented/educated will determine the type of world that we will be entering into. What ever actions we take today will have an impact for the next 7 generations into the future, so it is very important to create your ripples wisely.
OUR STORY
Both of our journeys started out with us both moving away from situations and environments we knew we did not belong.
Latisha found that working as an environmental scientist was not having the l impact that she was hoping for. So much red tape in politics prevented environmental protection that was needed. She also found her life was so mundane and lack luster, it was far from the freedom based lifestyle that she desired. Wake up, go to work, come home, go out with friends, and repeat. She was living the life she was expected to live, as a cog in the system, instead of a life that ignited her soul.
So she quit her career, quit her relationship, left her house, packed up and left her city and her country. She took off to work on volunteer projects in South America and Mexico and to search for her souls purpose, to search for that one thing which would allow her to live a life of freedom.
Pete on the other hand was escaping. He was suffocating under societal expectations of the strict English class system. Go to boarding school at the age of 7, get good grades, go to university and get a high-profile job in the city so you can appear successful. Appearing successful was more important rather than feeling fulfilled. After the early unexpected death of his father, he realized there had to be more to life than living up to others expectations.
So he packed what he needed and left everything else behind and left his country to work on a job that was not dictated by his University degree, OR what was expected by others. He was seeking opportunities and adventure for himself.
Latisha and Pete met in 2005 on a volunteer coral reef conservation project in Mexico, they realized their visions were so aligned that they amplified each other’s energies. They both wanted freedom. Financial freedom, time freedom, freedom to create our lives how we wanted. They also wanted to give back to improve the world either through the environment or humanity.
However, they did not know how to attain these freedoms, nor did they know how to create the lives they wanted. They were so trained by the system to believe you have to do the 9-5 grind, work hard in your career and make money. They wanted to make a big impact and give, back, they just did not know how.
So … they begrudgingly went back into the system because we weren’t aware of options. Latisha went back to her environmental career where she could make a good salary and save money to pursue the dream they desired. Pete came along and started building their first business.
It was from this point that a series of imperfect actions consistently taken with a goal in mind which brought them to where we are today; financial freedom, time freedom and freedom create their life. While at the same time creating projects that have impact and dove right in on starting creating their businesses.
They were taking inspiration from what they knew at the time looking for creative avenues to generate wealth as this would be their ticket to freedom. They took courses on business building, self development, real estate investing.
They learnt the “secrets” on how to create your life. They studied with experts on entrepreneurism and personal development such as Brian Tracey, they “religiously” followed the “secrets” from the book The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, the 4-hour work week by Timothy Ferris, and Think and grow Rich by Napolean Hill. They took courses on real estate investing.
By continuously taking imperfect action towards creating the life they wanted they were able to do the seemingly impossible, such as buy a property in the United States for $1.3 million with no money down. They had no money free to put on the property, they were not eligible for a bank loan in a foreign country and being Canadian and British, neither of them were legal to work in the United States….AND another offer was already on the property. That did not deter them. They knew beyond a doubt they would be able to manifest the property into their hands, and against all odds they did.
A major shift had to occur in their life. They were no longer creating the life they wanted. Their business was running them instead of them running their business. They decided to put their family first and start creating their life again instead of living in the life that was creating them.
They had become financially successful but still felt unfulfilled. What would they change if they could?
Having had a wake-up call, they decided to do something radically different. They committed to reconnecting to themselves, each other, and a meaningful life. They were determined to redefine life on their terms.
This was in 2008, 2 weeks before the market crashed. Despite everyone else plummeting with financial despair and other business shutting down all around them, they grew built up and grew their business year on year, creating a luxury resort and wellness center.
In the beginning it was amazing. They set the business up to provide them the freedom the craved. During the business start up they even fundraised $35,000 with a group of people which they personally delivered to an orphanage of 5000 children in India. Latisha took off for 6 months to India and Thailand to dive into intensive learning on yoga and energy healing.
Then things changed. They had a baby. Life got busy. They forgot to be the creators of their life and instead got caught up in the business of life and the business itself.
They asked themselves how they could use their gifts to make a difference in the world and expand their lives at the same time?
The first step was to rid their lives of the unnecessary “stuff” they had accumulated. Next was to create their desired life while only using what was essential.
To do that, they decided to sell their business and go on an adventure, traveling from Portland, Oregon, to Patagonia at the southern tip of South America. So they created an expedition vehicle and set off.
Pete and Latisha took imperfect action at each step, finding their way by moving forward. It wasn’t always easy as they traveled a new path. But along the way, they were always able to meet their challenges, learn, and transform.
